Sillage is the French word for the wake a boat leaves on water. The site replays an hour of Montréal's transit network as the trails its vehicles leave behind: buses, métro, REM, commuter rail, and the aircraft overhead, all moving on a single timeline.

Two kinds of trail share the map. Buses and aircraft are drawn from recorded positions, while métro, REM, and commuter rail are reconstructed from published schedules. The result places observed movement alongside the network as it was scheduled to run.

Hue identifies the mode and brightness reflects speed. Where official colours are available, they are used directly; the four métro lines, for example, retain their familiar STM colours.
